Bona Wax Oil Refresher — Where to use
A wooden floor finished or sealed with a clear or a coloured oil or hardwax oil, will look amazing. The wood will maintain its natural looks while the surface is waterproofed. But natural oils and waxes have a limited life expectancy and require regular refreshing and maintenance. Most oiled or waxed floors will require at least one refreshing job per year, depending on traffic. Oiled floors with high traffic will require 2–3 refreshing jobs per year. Bona Wax Oil Refresher will repair dull patches and damaged areas. As you clean the oiled floors, you will slowly remove some of the sealer. After a number of months, you will notice that areas with high traffic will look a bit more damaged than areas with low traffic. No need to refinish the whole floor but your floor has to be refreshed. Basically by applying one coat of Bona Wax Oil Refresher you rebuild the protection on your oiled floors. The damaged areas will be resealed and the floor will look healthy and uniform again. Failing to refresh a damaged oiled floor will end up costing you a lot of money in the long run.
Bona Wax Oil Refresher — How to use
The surface has to be clean, dust free, grime free and dry. You can apply the product mechanically with a floor buffer and an applicator pad or you can use a towel or microfiber cloth. Never roll or brush the refresher. Work on small areas of up to 2 sq meters. Soak your cloth in oil refresher and apply it to the floor going along the fibre of the wood. Allow the surface to absorb whatever it needs to be protected and remove the excess. The surface has to look evenly wet but not soaked. 1L will cover 30 to 50 sq meters. If you apply too much maintenance oil, the floor will never dry right and it will be all sticky. Estimated drying time should be up to 2 hours. If you are using a low speed buffer to apply Bona Wax Oil Refresher, then pour about 50 ML of refresher on the floor, apply the buffer pad over the product and start buffing until you notice that the pad is dry. Pour more refresher and move along. Use a cloth for areas around skirting or all hard to reach areas.
Bona Wax Oil Refresher — Recommendations
If you are not a handy person or ready for a bit of hard work, you should hire a professional company to deal with your oiled floors. Refreshing an oiled floor is a fine step by step process that can look amazing if done right or it can take forever to dry if the process is not respected.
